As much as I respect Jensen’s opinion on his character’s sexuality…
…I wish he at least had an honest moment of thought, just inside his head, about his acting choices and analyzed why so many fans interpret his character differently than he does.
I don’t know about you guys, but it’s equally easy for me to accept both versions of the story - simply because the only person who ever knows their sexuality is themselves, and any judgement of a person’s sexuality from a third party is purely subjective. In case of a fictional non-existent character it is, therefore, always subjective.
So my headcanon is that Dean is bisexual, but I can accept that he might be in fact straight and we are all seeing what we’d like to see.
But it seems that Jensen gets super uncomfortable when faced with an interpretation different than his own and while it’s okay to be uncomfortable (we’re all humans, and remember ACTORS DON’T OWE US ANYTHING) it begs to wonder WHY. Like, okay, he gets the question a lot, but he could simply calmly answer “nope, I still think Dean’s straight” every time and move on to the next question, so why exactly does he get so angry about it?
